Troop 32 Scouts, Scouters and families
We have such a rich history in Troop 32 (and all units associated) that the total magnitude is hard to imagine. The T32 Historical Committee will make imagination real as we embark on an adventure toward the 2010 BSA 100th Anniversary – Troop 32 style.
Because Troop 32 would like to take advantage of every opportunity that may present itself, I have prepared a “promotional release” form for every family that has a Scout registered in the Troop. Why? Our effort is to make this a banner year among all years in the Troop history but we need to know ahead of time whether we have your permission to allow your sons picture, video, etc to be used in our T32 Historical CD and potential news stories that might occur. How does this work? As an example, during the months leading up to and after our 2007 Ad Altare Dei Tour when we used this same form, our trip generated 3 stories/pictures published in the 1.2 million readership of Columbia Magazine, 6 stories/pictures in the North Texas Catholic (14 counties), 2 stories/pictures in the Nolan High School Alumni magazine, and 3 stories/pictures in The Texas Knight (statewide publication). The attached form is exactly like the Diocese of Ft Worth Promotional Release except I replaced it with text for Troop 32. I receive media emails from various sources in and out of Scouting and when you have what is needed, you can see the results.
What we plan? With over 15 years of compiling our history, receiving historical donations of T32 history, and T32 alumni/friends providing additional details to significant events, our T32 BSA 100th Anniversary CD history will be unmatched in Longhorn Council. We will have a unit roster of all 1,400 PLUS Scouts, a written history narrative with over 150 pictures, over 125 articles/pictures published in local media featuring Scouts/Scouters of T32ers, a 44 page BIO of Scoutmaster Ole Man Gillespie, a 20+ page book published by the National CCS with 1 story of a T32 Eagle Scout, video of various T32 activities that includes Vice President Richard Nixon next to T32ers at the 1960 NJ, etc. Our publication date is anticipated April 2010.
All Scouts under 21 will have their names abbreviated for privacy and anyone who wishes to exclude their name(s), picture, etc will have it excluded. I will assume all adults aged 21+ have given publication permission if I don’t hear from you.
T32 And All Associated Unit Reunion Picture Day We plan a 2-3 hour reunion at some point in the future that will feature all T32 Scouts/Scouters, T32 Alumni, Unit 32 Alumni, and friends. Since our anniversary events (50th anniv, 65th Anniv, 70th Anniv, etc) have been intermingled with all units sponsored by KC Council 759 from 1927, we also include all other units associated. It will be a picture taking session where we get group pictures of all T32 Scouts, All Scoutmasters, All Eagle Scouts, All Religious Awardees, T19 Scouts, Pack 32 (if they wish), Crew 32, Philmont, etc. We did this during our 75th Anniversary year in 2002 and it was great fun for the current Scouts/Scouters to meet some of the “veterans” and hear some of the tall “tales.” We are currently looking for a location and date.
If anyone has any questions, please email.
I appreciate everyone’s interest in making this an inspiring 100th Anniversary year of years for our Scouts!
Yours,
John Ryan Historical Committee Troop 32 Longhorn Council |
